This is what Christine has to say about her chairs.
Like you I love beads and over the years have tried my hand at all sorts of bead projects. The problem is, working full time doesn't give you a lot of spare time to experiment, but I think I have found my forte with this as I can do a few rows every evening, and yes the whole of the backs are beads. I bought the dining set second hand knowing that it would need to be recovered, but as it is quite a common design over here (England) I wanted mine to be individual so what better than beading the backs. I had a cross stitch pattern of Tutankhamen & Nefertiti and thought they would look good on the backs. I didn't want to do them all the same so whilst on holiday in Egypt I bought a papyrus of other pharoes, took photos of their faces and converted them into cross stitch patterns using the same 22 colours as Tutankhamen. I took a template of the back of the chairs and transferred it onto canvass then sowed the beads on individually using half a cross stitch with a bead on. Each chair back has approximately 30,000 beads on and took about 250 hours to complete. Once completed I bought the velvet to match for the seats. My friends all thought I was mad and there were times when I thought this isn't going to work but I'm glad I persevered as it turned out fine and I now have a unique dining set
